I work mainly on the wheel, throwing functional vessels which become canvasses for a rich palette of glazes. My goal is to make beautiful, atmospheric pots with a soft, tactile appeal, to be appreciated as decorative objects and also enjoyed in use.

I am fascinated by the way the glazes I develop interact with each other, creating infinitely variable visual effects which often belie their satin surfaces. In particular, drinking vessels afford the opportunity for the user to engage with the visual and tactile properties of a piece far more closely than would be usual for any other art form.

From time to time I also enjoy hand building more sculptural pieces, where the glazes can be allowed a freer rein.
