Mid Summer Madness Sale - crazy prices & free space!!
Cupola has definitely got a touch of Mid Summer Madness as the gallery (by popular demand) launches an *'Under the Bed Sale' for the summer months PLUS an offer a free space to artists wanting to offer workshops/talks or activities throughout the course of this show.
*For the uninitiated, the Under The Bed Sale is where artists are invited to send to the gallery older or early work that they consider to be not current or out of date; or potentially slight seconds or sketchbook work. In fact, anything they have hidden under their beds, stored in attics, looked after by parents, hanging around the studio or simply no longer 'loved' that they are happy to sell off at bargain prices!
Over 30 artists from around the country have sent bargain priced artwork for Cupola's first ever summer sale. Prices from £1 - £300*
* Occasionally the maximum price will be exceeded as long as the new price is at least 50% lower than the original selling price.
Many artists are new to the gallery but plenty of popular Cupola favourites have found some early work to offer up for sale at incredibly low prices including Stephen Todd, Paul Evans, Lyn Hodnett, Corinna Button, Anne Penman Sweet, Mari Ruth Oda, Bruce Hardwick & Lyn Critchlow & Fizgig glass.
Although the list is still growing, other contributors include:
John Arrowsmith (Glass), Jo Brown (mixed media, painting), Maggie Campbell, (Drawing, painting), Angela Carr (Painting), (Ceramics), Jill Ford (Ceramics), Sylvia Glover (Ceramics), Mary Knight (Textiles), Michelle Laverty (Printmaking), Anne Menary (Textile), Leyla Murr (Painting), Viv Owen (Painting), Bruce Rimmel (Painting), Mary Selwell (Printmaking), Sue Platt (Painting), Stitch & Siler (Jewellery), Christine A Thomas (printmaking), David Thomas (Painting), Claire West (Printmaking), Hang S Yeung (Glass), Barbara Sykes (Printmaking/ Painting), Harriette Broomhead (Painting), Ben Jeffery (painting), John Chamberlaine (Drawing).
Free workshop space - this offer is creating quite a buzz too! A number of artists have already booked space to offer a range of different workshops including, painting, drawing, textiles and ceramics, plus talks and professional development sessions. Confirmed at present are Anne Menary (Textiles - Hand Stitching), Chloe Bezer (Theatre-Making/Performance) and Angie Hardwick (Tile making, slab building and coil pots techniques). Other artists are still welcome to approach the gallery and submit a proposal. Artists interested should contact the gallery for details.
