Artist Statement:
"Observation, curiosity, emotion, practicality, are all drivers for my practice. Sometimes figurative, sometimes abstract, and encompassing a range of media, my work follows a line of enquiry.
I am compelled by the material qualities of paint, the mechanics of printmaking, the discipline of drawing. I make things to tell stories, to speak for me. I am always making something, always using my hands."
Biography
Born 1969, she grew up in Nottingham, read English at Oxford, and trained as an art teacher. She has exhibited regularly in and around York where she now lives with her family, participating in York Open Studios , art&, and the Great North Art Show as well as numerous smaller solo “pop ups” and group exhibitions in galleries. She teachs fine art at York College where she is also the Printmaking Technician.
