Artist Statement

'My work aims to use traditional ceramic techniques to achieve a modern and fresh outcome, highly focusing on layering surface texture with decoration and also through my use of colour. The inspiration behind my work comes directly from architecture, from the drawings I created during a trip to Italy of the traditional street scenes, to the modern architecture that inspired the form of my work. All aspects are hand-built in Earthenware clay, and I use a mixture of coloured slips, underglazes and ceramic transfers to achieve my surface decoration. I also want to highlight that each piece I make is unique, so no two will be the same.'
