Call for artists! - Paid opportunity

30 Years of Cupola!!

In August this year, 2021 Cupola Gallery celebrates 30 years open! 1991 – 2021. Most people estimated the lifespan of Cupola Gallery to be around 6 months, but we are very happy to announce that not only are we still here but we intend to stay. Having survived numerous set backs over the years, the gallery does not intend to give up now! To celebrate not only the survival but the energy, determination, passion and innovation of the gallery, Cupola is putting a call out to artists to submit ideas for accessible/challenging/charming/innovative/clever/bizarre/wonderful activities/interventions to represent the range and breadth of work Cupola has had the delight to showcase over our many years of trading. Cupolas has exhibited the work over 10,000 artists from all corners of the globe, as well as showcasing locally based talent, since opening our doors in 1991. We are passionate about the creativity of artists and wish to share their creativity with as many as possible.

Call for artists:

Cupola is seeking proposals for 10 artists to deliver a unique workshop/activity/intervention that is broadly accessible to all and free to enjoy. We aim to deliver one proposal per week for 10 weeks beginning around 24 July and then running up to the end of September 2021. Each artist will receive a fee of £250 plus £50 materials/travel budget (plus VAT if necessary). The fee is based on a single day’s work. Each proposal should encourage some kind of interaction with creative activity in its broadest sense and be a draw to the gallery as a physical place/space.*

* online / digital / conceptual / proposals are welcome and we acknowledge their importance as an opportunity to draw visitors from distant locations internationally.

Deadline for submissions: June 20 2021.

To submit a proposal please send your CV which includes details of a referee, a short paragraph of your idea, plus available dates within the timescale as detailed above. If your activity has been delivered previously, please send details including images and feedback if available. If you wish to discuss your idea or have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
